Starring James Millar
James is a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and a recipient of a best leading actor Helpmann award, 4 Green Room awards and a Sydney critics award.
James Millar is an Australian actor, singer, director and writer. He is the author of the musical drama The Hatpin, the song cycle LOVEBiTES and multi-award winning semi-autobiographical- A Little Touch of Chaos.
He has previously appeared as an actor in Oklahoma! for The Production Company, The Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie for Company B Belvoir, played the role of Peter in Sondheim’s Company at Sydney’s Theatre Royal, as Chucky in Jerry Springer: The Opera at the Sydney Opera House, and for Ensemble Theatre played the lead role of Mitchell Green in the premiere of The Little Dog Laughed, appeared in the Australian Premiere of Grey Gardens for The Production Company, as Noel Coward in the Australian tour of Noel and Gertie, The Ring Cycle at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the premiere season of My Brilliant Career, toured the UK in Chess, and most recently performed the role of The Baker for Watch This and reprised the role in Perth in 2023 for the WA Opera/Northern Irish Opera.
In April 2015, it was announced that James would play Miss Trunchbull in the Australian premiere season of Matilda the Musical. He followed this successful run with a star turn as Alan Bennett opposite Miriam Margolyes in the Melbourne Theatre Company’s The Lady in the Van.
He’s thrilled to be performing, for the first time, in his home habitat.
