The Events Centre is one of the largest function centres on the Coast with dining, high tech staging and equipment for large and small dinners, awards nights, conferences, theatre and special events. The venue has two theatres and dining spaces for over 1,000 patrons.

This dynamic workshop is designed for beginners who are eager to explore the art of stage combat safely and effectively under the guidance of a trained instructor. Young performers will delve into the fundamentals of stage combat, learning basic techniques, safety protocols, and how to effectively portray realistic fight sequences on stage.

Gain hands-on experience in crafting captivating fight scenes by understanding essential topics such as body mechanics, timing, and storytelling through physical movement. Participants will have the opportunity to practice choreographing their own fight scenes, receiving personalised guidance and feedback to enhance their skills.

Whether you are looking to expand your physical repertoire, seeking to enhance your production’s fight scenes, or simply curious about the art of stage combat, this masterclass is perfect for anyone with a passion for the dramatic arts.

This masterclass is for beginners and requires no prior experience.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Arrive at The Events Centre and head towards the Playhouse Theatre to register
  • Get your personalised name tag and The Events Centre lanyard (you get to keep this!)
  • You will be ushered into the Playhouse Theatre for an introduction from The Events Centre staff, including an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of both the Playhouse Theatre and Kings Theatre
  • Meet your Facilitator and begin the workshop
  • Morning tea, drinks and lunch will be provided during the day

WHAT TO WEAR

  • Wear closed in comfortable shoes.
  • Wear stretchy long pants, comfortable so you can move in. (No skirts or dresses)
  • Wear a t shirt or long sleeved skivvy, stretchy and comfortable but not too baggy.
  • Wear long and loose hair tied back and away from the face. (No hair clips)
  • Remove all jewelry (this can be a hazard in a staged fight scene)
