Music speaks to the heart like no other medium, and if you haven’t tried the experiment of watching a scary movie without the soundtrack it’s fascinating to experience just how much of the dread and anticipation is created by the underlying soundtrack. What’s this got to do with the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra?!
Our next concert “Magic, mischief and musical storytelling” will showcase the incredible emotional range an orchestral sound palate can produce. We’ll perform orchestral pieces that can conjure everything from the movement of chicks in their shells, the terror of a high mountain pass at night and jump scares by Russian witches, to the wistful romance of new love, and the joy of finding a new home to belong to.
The program includes John Williams’ Harry Potter Suite, selections from Ravel’s Pictures at an exhibition, Saint Sans’ Danse Macabre featuring Daniel Kossov on solo violin, sumptuous waltzes from Gounod’s ballet “Faust”, and some musical surprises we’ll keep under our hat until closer to the concert!
We’re proud to announce we’ll be premiering Denis Feletto’s specially commissioned piece for SCSO “The horizon we become”.
This will be a concert full of surprise and delight! Join us at 7pm Saturday September 13th at the Event Centre Caloundra for “Magic, mischief and musical storytelling”, with our guest conductor Huw Jones
