Following the successful partnership with the Rekindling program in 2024 & 2025, Dhakkan/Mundagudda and Maroochy Youth return to The Events Centre, alongside the Bangarra Youth and Education Team. Under the guidance of Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi Custodian Uncle Lyndon Davis and Jinibarra Custodian Aunty Zeitha Jalamala, Rekindling participants have spent time On Country gathering stories and developing performance skills.
The program features contemporary and traditional dance, along with an original youth-created song and dance inspired by their time at Mt Beerwah.
Local Elder Aunty Jude Hammond (Gungarri/Kamilaroi), performers from the Mundagudda Project, and Southern Cross Soloists will present a new Songlines work recently performed at the National Museum of Australia, alongside Beerwah State High School’s Songlines sculptures on display.
Together, these performances and artworks celebrate First Nations culture grounded in tradition and Country, inspiring pride, kinship, and strength in young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as emerging leaders.
