The Merryatric Players nominated for Caloundra Community Awards
The Events Centre is excited to announce that our community singing group, The Merryatric Players are nominated for Caloundra Arts Group Of The Year! Caloundra Community Awards celebrates local clubs and community groups to acknowledge the work they do for the community each and every day across Caloundra and the Hinterland.
The Merryatrics rehearse every Tuesday at The Event Centre, putting together live stage shows, popular plays and exciting concerts, which they also take on the road to local retirement homes and church halls. We were delighted to host their recent live production It’s A Musical World in our Playhouse Theatre in July earlier this year. This all-new all-original musical theatre performance was written, directed and performed by Ian Rix and The Merryatric Players to delighted audiences across two shows.
You may have also seen them bringing festive spirit and cheer in our foyer each year, performing Christmas carols and providing entertainment at our Daytime Series Christmas Concert each year!
Merryatrics Director, Ian Rix, says the group provides a welcoming environment for people to express themselves through musical theatre, no matter their age.
